INTRODUCTION

I- What is Paz Géia?

Paz Géia, the first school of Neo-Shamanism in Brazil, was founded on the 23rd of September 1990 by Carminha Levy from a mantra called "Piece of Peace" recieved from the Pacific ocean. This mantra sets our goals and brings out the return of Sacred Shamanism, the most archaic form of comsciousness raising and physical/mental/physical therapeutic system.

As a bridge between scientific and Shamanic tradition, Paz Géia strives for integration of instinctive, scientific and spiritual aspects, which mean the Primitive Self, modern self, and the creative and divine side, the Higher Self.

II- Paz Géia's Goals

Developing a functional working internal ecology through self-knowledge from practical and philosophical shamanism - the Warriors Impeccability.

Awakening the creative self, offering new solutions to old problems, having in mind the Goddess in Creation, and Art is her Prayer.

Promoting awakening of consciousness in the most diverse contexts, bringing to the non-initiated a model external ecology through our activities.

III- What is Neo-Shamanism?

During the birth of humanity, when the kingdom of the primordial chaos was sleeping and unconscious, Shamans, men and women with the potential of rising out of their bodies (Up From Eden - Ken Wilber) visited the world of the Archetypes, and entered into contact with the Archetype of the Divine. Touched by the power of revelation, they began the process of awakening Humanity. For that they are considered the "Heroes of Consciousness" and the initiators of civilization. (History of the Origins of Consciousness - Erick Newman)

Nowadays we again live with chaos and the sleeping of the unconscious, and the situation cries for the Archetype of the Shaman. Therefore, 40 years ago a worldwide movement returning toward shamanism, inspired by research of Mircea Eliade (Shamanism, Archaic Techniques of Ecstasy.) Pioneers such as Carlos Castaneda, Michael Harner, and others dare to question the scientific community with studies, practical techniques, and primitive traditions. Slowly but surely, Shamanism earns space in all social and cultural classes and returns with its primitive tradition, waking the human spirit through the path of the Heart.

Being Neo-Shamans means combining ancestral wisdom with modern-day scientific and technological conquests.

IV- What is Matriarchal Shamanism?

Matriarchal Shamanism returns to its origins in the beginning of humanity when we lived in a Golden Age, where men, women, animals and nature were part of a sacred context of adoration to the Great Goddess, the Great Mother who came to us as the Black Madonna. Matriachial Shamanism (The Cup and the Sword - Riane Eisler) sets a change from a patriarchal paradigm to values of the Great Goddess, a new (or old) partnership ruled by sexual equality, liberty, justice, happiness, beauty, love, and power as synomonous with responsibility, symbolized by the Holy Grail, container of life and creativity. Attributes such as love, compassion, mercy, among others belong to the Sword of Patriarchy, in a Sacred marriage with the Holy Grail raises up and reveals - to men and women- meaning of the true significance of their HUMANITY.
